*continuation of title: in a long time*

OK, so I recently got Sonic and the Black Knight for Wii. Now, I'm not one of those mega-super-hard-core Sonic fans that say that all Sonic's games are way awesome, so I'll admit that pretty much every Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle has been pretty much absolute crap, with the exception of the few side-scrollers. But SBK is actually a good Sonic game, and it's in 3D! I know Sonic with a sword seems really weird, but Sega actually managed to pull it off. So, one thing that really pisses me off, is that even months before it's release, practically everyone judged it as absolute crap. They look at it and think "A hedgehog with a sword? Has Sega gone completely insane?" then don't even bother thinking about it any further. If those people actually played the game for 5 minutes, they would realize that it is actually a GOOD GAME! Sure it's a bit cliched, but it's FUN! And isn't that what games are actually about? I mean, remember back in the days when the graphics were a bunch of blocks stuck together, the music was a bunch of blips and beeps, and there was hardly any story or premise? We played them for the gameplay! Now, it seems that gameplay is one of the only things that people DON'T take into consideration when they decide whether a game is good or not! It seems to me like all that stuff that didn't matter to us in the slightest is now what classifies a game as good or bad! Nowadays, no one ever wants to play a game that doesn't have realistic-looking graphics, or a game that doesn't have awesome music! And they judge whether to play a game for the first time or not based on the premise, along with what they've heard other people say about it and what the previous games in the series are like! "*start sarcasm*A hedgehog with a sword, ooh that sounds fun.*end sarcasm*" as opposed to "Oh wow! A group of survivors trying to continue surviving!" Yeah, because that's only been done a million times!
